Unique Sweet and Sour Chilli Paneer -Gluten Free

 Ingredients:
  1. Paneer  - cubes 1 cup
  2. Bell Peppers- Red, green and yellow - 2 cups cut in cubes.
  3. Ginger -1 inch grated.
  4. Garlic - 3 pods crushed
  5. Onion - 1 large cut in big cubes.
  6. Serrano peppers- 2 finely chopped.
  7. Grape jelly- 1/2 cup
  8. Tomato Ketchup- 1/2 cup
  9. Chinese chilli sauce( schechuan)- 2 tbsp.
  10.  Oil - 1 Tbsp
  11. Salt - 1 tea spoon or according to taste.
  12. Water - 1/2 cup
  13. Red chilli powder -1 tsp.


Method:

  1. Turn on the heat .
  2. Mix grape jelly , schechuan sauce, tomato ketchup , salt , water and red chilli powder till it reaches a smooth consistency.Boil for a minute and turn off the heat.
  3.  Turn on the heat. Take a pan  . Add oil . Once the oil is warm, add ginger ,garlic, serrano peppers. Saute for a minute.
  4. Add onion , bell peppers and saute for 3-4 minutes so that the onions are translucent . Add the grape jelly mixture and  toss lightly for 1 -2 minutes.
  5. Add Paneer and fold it lightly so that paneer gets coated  with sauce.
  6. Turn off the heat.

Note:

  1. Be very careful with salt. You may have to taste more than once. It is better to put a little at a time and check what suits your palette. Tomato sauce and schechuan sauce already have salt.
  2. You may use this dish as an appetizer or a side dish.
  3. You may serve it with rice.
Variations:
  • Slantly cut chinese egg plant. Saute them in high heat and add to the sauce.
  • Make vegetable manchurian balls and add to this sauce.
  • Lightly blanch brocolli and cauliflower  florets and add to this sauce.
