Efficient cooking with time saving tips !


Are you nervous about entering the kitchen ?  Are you  totally confused where to start? Cooking a full meal seems like a very uphill task ! Fret no more ! Let us gather our courage together and start our journey to cook a full simple meal. It is less intimidating than it sounds. Simple indian everyday meal consists of a lentil or a gravy based dish, a dry vegetable, a raita( plain yogurt with vegetables) , rice and making chapaties. Let us make the game plan . Decide the menu first. Let us start with moong masoor dal or lentils, zeera aloo, boondi raita , rice , chapati and salad. This is a simple menu. Once you master the art , you can create any masterpiece.  Tie your apron and start. 
1. Take 3 medium size potatoes, wash them and microwave them for 8 minutes. 
2. Take out the pressure cooker. Mix both the lentils,add water, salt and turmeric . Cover the lid and turn on the stove. 
3. Wash the rice thrice or till the water becomes clear. Add double the amount of water in a microwave safe bowl. Take out the potatoes and pop the rice in the microwave. 
4. Let the potatoes cool. In the mean while make the dough for the chapatis and let it rest. 
5. Turn off the stove just before the first whistle is about to begin . Remove from stove and keep it aside. 
6. Peel the potatoes and chop them . Make aloo zeera . 
7 . Temper the dal. 
8. Peel and cut the salad and put it in the refrigerator. 
9. Take out plain yogurt and mix gram flour boondi . Add water or milk to adjust the consistency. Keep it in the refrigerator . Add chat masala, red chili powder, roasted ground jeera powder and salt just before serving. 
10. Roll and make the chapatis and wrap them in a paper towel and wrap them in silver foil.
11. Transfer all the food to serving dishes and lay the table. 
12. Clean all the utensils you have used for cooking . The basic rule is to clean as you go. 
13. Give a nice wipe to the counters .
14. Voila ! U just made the full Indian meal by yourself .
