Quick Basmati Rice in Microwave- Gluten Free



Ingredients:

  1. Basmati Rice - 1 cup .
  2. Water -2 cups

Method:

  1.  Put rice in a thin sieve and put it under running water to wash it completely.
  2. When the water runs clear, transfer the rice to microwaveable bowl.
  3. Add water and let it soak for 15 minutes.
  4. Now put the bowl in microwave uncovered  . Set the microwave for 14 minutes on high.
  5. Wait for 2-3 minutes after  microwave stops cooking.
  6. Take out the rice bowl and fluff the rice lightly with fork. This is an important step. You may cover the rice after fluffing it lightly .
  7.  Rice is ready to eat.
Note: 

  1. If you live in US,  I recommend Royal basmati Rice from Sams Club. The quality and fragrance is great.
  2. Make sure the bowl you are using to make rice is big enough to accomodate cooked rice . The rice will expand as it gets cooked.
  3.  If you get the rice with a little water at the bottom, simply put it back and microwave for 4 -5 minutes more. This means your microwave is at a lower temperature.
  4. This is a plain rice recipe. You can eat with different kinds of curries or lentils. I will be giving you variations of rice recipes in future blogs.
