Date and almond truffles - Gluten Free Dessert


Ingredients:

Pitted Dates : 1 cup
Roasted almonds : 1/2 cup
Honey : 2 Tbsp
Rose water : 3 - 4 drops
Coconut powder : 1/2 cup

Method:
  1.  Steam the dates by putting them in a seive on the pot of boiling water for 10-15 minutes.
  2.  Let them cool. Peel the outer skin .Put it in a bowl and mash it with wooden spoon until there are no big chunks.
  3. Boil the almonds in  some water. Peel the skin  and roast them lightly so that they become fragrant. 
  4. Grind the almonds coarsely in a grinder. Now add them to the bowl of mashed dates. 
  5. Add honey and rose water and mix it well.
  6. Make small  dime size balls and roll them in powdered coconut.
  7. Date and almond truffles are ready to serve with tea,coffee and after dinner dessert.
  8. I am planning to make for Diwali and Christmas gifts for my friends and family.
Note : These truffles are very nutritious and gluten free. They are super easy to make.
           These truffles can be eaten during  navratri fasting.

Variations: If you are allergic to nuts, you can avoid almonds altogether. It will still taste yummy.
