Cranberry chutney - Gluten free sauce

 
My husband loved this chutney. He insisted that we should have it in our refrigerator  throughout the cranberry season. I could not agree more.

 Ingredients:

  1. Cranberries   : 3 cups
  2. Apple            : 1 big or 2 small ( cut in small pieces)
  3. Sugar            : 1 cup
  4. Raisins          :  1/2 cup( golden)
  5. Black salt      : 1 tsp( easily available at Indian grocery stores)
  6. Walnuts         : 1/2 cup chopped.
  7. Orange juice  : Freshly squeezed (1 cup)
  8. Orange zest   : 1/2 tsp
  9. Apple cider vinegar: 1 tsp
Method:
  1.  Take a pan  and add rinsed cranberries, chopped apples, sugar, raisins, orange juice, orange zest ,apple cider vinegar and black salt.
  2. Turn on the heat and put the pan on the stove on medium heat.
  3. Slowly the sugar will melt and the cranberries will start to burst and pop. Turn down the heat.
  4. In 5 -6 minutes  the apples and cranberries be become very soft. 
  5. Take a wooden spoon and mix everything well.
  6.  The cranberries and apples will blend into a thick sauce.
  7. Add the chopped walnuts and mix them well.
  8. Cranberry Sauce chutney is ready.
Note : This is a make ahead recipe. You may  make this chutney in bulk and make jars to give as  thanksgiving gifts.
